Consent After Information

– Study on Software Visualization –

Purpose of the Study

You are being asked to participate in a scientific study. Before you begin, it is important that you understand the purpose of the study and what it involves. Please read the following information carefully and ask the researcher if anything is unclear or if you need more information.

Objective: Evaluate a Software Visualization approach in the web-based research software ExplorViz.

Procedure of the Study

1. You will first answer some basic questions about your (academic) background.

2. Then, you will be asked to solve some tasks using the developed software visualization approach.

3. After the tasks, you will complete the remaining questionnaire on your own.

Duration: Approximately 30-45 minutes.

Risks

• There are no known health risks.

• You may stop or withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason.

Benefits of the Study

• Other than a compensation upon study completion (see below), there is no direct benefit to you.

• However, you may gain new knowledge, including insights into current research.

• Your participation helps us better understand the impact and potential applications of software visualization.

Compensation

• You will receive €5 after completing the study.

Confidentiality

• Your responses are used for scientific evaluations and can be published as part of scientific publications.

• Measures taken to protect your anonymity:

  • We do not store any personal data (such as your name) alongsidee your responses.

  • You should not enter any personal data in the survey which would allow conclusions to be drawn about your identity.

  • We assign a code to your questionnaire for identification purposes, should you want to access your data later.

Voluntary Participation

• Your participation is voluntary.

• It is entirely up to you to decide whether or not to take part.

• Even after signing the consent form, you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason.

• Withdrawal will not affect your relationship with the researcher (if such a relationship exists).

• If you withdraw before data collection is complete, any collected data will be deleted within a day.

Declaration of Consent

I have read and understood the information provided and had the opportunity to ask questions. I understand that participation is voluntary and that I am free to withdraw at any time without giving reasons and without incurring any costs. I understand that I can receive a copy of this consent form. I voluntarily agree to participate in this study.
